Program teaches diversity via jazz
A fundraiser will be held April 27 at 9:30 p.m. for the Kids for Coltrane Project, which educates children about diversity and American history by incorporating the history of jazz into classrooms and after school programs. The program, currently housed in the New York City school system, is seeking nonprofit status.
Performers will include spoken word poet Safia Elhillo, Stix Bones and the B.O.N.E. Squad and guitarist Lou Vig.
The fundraiser will take place 34 W 22nd St. in Manhattan, between 5th and 6th Avenues. Ticket cost $15 and there is a two-beverage minimum. Go here to RSVP and purchase tickets.
