Guitarist Wayne Krantz to Release New Album April 17
Album release anticipated by five-night stand at Iridium
New York-based guitarist Wayne Krantz will release his 10th album, Howie 61, on April 17 through Abstract Logix Records. Joining Krantz in a variety of lineups are Vinnie Colaiuta, Tal Wilkenfeld, Pino Palladino and Anton Fig. Other players appearing on the recording include Keith Carlock, James Genus, Nate Wood, Henry Hey, Owen Biddle, Charley Drayton, John Patitucci, John Beasley, Jeremy Stacey, Paul Stacey, Yasushi Miura, David Binney, Kenny Wollesen and Gabriela Anders. The title, Howie 61, refers to Bob Dylan’s 1965 song “Highway 61 Revisited.”
Prior to the album release, Krantz will play a five-night stint at New York’s Iridium Nightclub. On the first night, Krantz will join the Les Paul Trio. Over the next two nights, he will be accompanied by drummer Cliff Almond, saxophonist Chris Potter (Krantz has performed in his Underground band) and bassist Anthony Tidd.
The last two nights will find Krantz joined by his trio: drummer Keith Carlock and bassist Tim Lefebvre.
