Featured collaborators include Quincy Jones, George Shearing, Ron Carter, many more
A double-CD collection of rarities by harmonica legend Toots Thielemans will be released March 27 by Naxos of America and Out of the Blue Records. The set begins with Thielemans’ earliest recording as a soloist from 1946 and ends with a duet recorded in 2001.
Producer Cees Schrama selected all 38 tracks, some of which, including the 1946 recording, initially made as a soundtrack for a cartoon, have never been previously issued anywhere. Others, among them tracks featuring pianist George Shearing, were issued as singles only.
