Previously Unreleased Fela Kuti Album Due in May

‘Live in Detroit, 1986’ is first new Fela music since 1992

On May 8, Knitting Factory Records will release Live In Detroit, 1986, which it calls the first new Fela Kuti material to be issued since the late Afrobeat pioneer’s final studio album, Underground System, in 1992.

Recorded live at the Fox Theater in Detroit in November 1986, the concert features Kuti with his Egypt 80 band.
