Debut Album from Spectrum Road a Collaboration Among Major Players

Jack Bruce, Vernon Reid, John Medeski & Cindy Blackman Santana are featured

A collaboration between four headlining musicians, calling themselves Spectrum Road, will be released June 5 on Palmetto Records. Former Cream bassist Jack Bruce, Living Colour guitarist Vernon Reid, keyboardist John Medeski of Medeski Martin & Wood, and drummer Cindy Blackman Santana pay tribute to the late drummer Tony Williams on the self-titled album. Later that same week, on June 9, the group will perform at the Bonnaroo Festival, the first show of a planned U.S. summer tour. Complete dates will be announced shortly.

“To be able to play and record in this band alongside three of the most creative and stellar musicians in the world is a longtime dream come true,” said Reid in a press release. “The idea for Spectrum Road first came about in 2001 and it was the ongoing belief in the kind of record we knew we could make together that made it come to fruition.”

Spectrum Road is named for “Via the Spectrum Road,” a track on the first Tony Williams Lifetime album, 1969’s Emergency. Bruce was briefly a member of Lifetime in the early 1970s.
