Juilliard Jazz will present a benefit evening on March 27 at 8 p.m. in Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center in celebration of Juilliard faculty member and bassist Ron Carter. “Ron Carter at 75: A Life in Music” includes performances by Carter and an all-star line-up featuring guest artists Carl Allen, Benny Golson, Hubert Laws, Russell Malone, Christian McBride, Mulgrew Miller, Lewis Nash, Buster Williams and others.
The program opens with a bass salute to Carter by Buster Williams, McBride and others, followed by a nonet comprised of Juilliard classical and jazz musicians. Following the salute, Juilliard Jazz Ensembles will perform a few of Carter’s compositions. An ensemble with guests Allen, Golson, Miller, Williams and others will perform next, followed by the Golden Striker Trio with Carter, Malone and Miller.
