Clark Terry Tribute Program to Air Sunday Night
Celine Peterson, daughter of piano legend Oscar, will host the 30-minute radio/webcast
This Sunday, January 15, Celine Peterson, daughter of the legendary jazz pianist Oscar Peterson, will host a 30-minute web radio tribute to Clark Terry on JAZZ.FM91, as part of the “Host Your Own Radio Show” series. The program will air at 10 p.m. Eastern time. Peterson handpicked all the tunes.
“Host Your Own Radio Show,” four half-hour shows broadcast from 10 to midnight on Sundays, can be streamed from anywhere in the world at www.jazz.fm, or on iPhone and iPads on the new JAZZ.FM91 app, available from iTunes.
"Host Your Own Radio Show" was introduced during the station’s fall 2009 fundraising campaign, and is now a regular offering during the station’s spring and fall fundraising campaigns. It provides an opportunity for those who want a chance to be heard on the radio to come up with their own show concept.
Says Peterson, “For me, it was a chance to experience what I hope is going to be a major aspect of my career one day, as well as a chance to pay tribute to someone I love very dearly. Clark Terry is, in short, a legend. To me, he is my godfather, Uncle Clark. Growing up in a jazz household, I was exposed to many amazing artists and legends, but Clark has always been one of my favorites. At 91 years old, he is one of the strongest, and most inspiring people I have ever known. I wanted to take this opportunity to share with people a few of my favorite selections from his overwhelming catalog, and speak briefly about what it is that makes him so special. Aside from being one of the best trumpet players this world will ever see, he is also incredibly kind and loving. I am incredibly excited for people to hear it.”
Accompanying Peterson for the broadcast will be Jaymz Bee from JazzFM and her friend, Tracey Nolan.
