Phyllis "Mama Jazz" Campbell, Radio DJ, Dies at 89
Campbell hosted a popular radio program in Miami for 29 years
Former WMUB-FM jazz host Phyllis “Mama Jazz” Campbell, one of the most popular personalities on the Miami University station, died Nov. 26 in Eaton, Ohio, according to an online post by Dr. Jazz of Oak Park, Mich. She was 89.
Campbell was a host on the station for 29 years, starting in 1979. Her show ended in 2008, according to the posted obituary, when the station dropped jazz in favor of
evening news and talk.
