Saxophonist Grace Kelly Announces West Coast Tour

19-year-old prodigy’s first trek through the western states

Nineteen-year-old saxophonist Grace Kelly and her quintet will play a handful of West Coast dates November 1-9. The tour, her first of the region, will include performances at Yoshi’s in San Francisco; Tula’s in Seattle; the Jazz Montana Festival in Bozeman, Mont.; Boise State University in Boise, Idaho; and the Coffee Gallery Backstage in Altadena, Calif. The performances will feature trumpeter Jason Palmer, pianist Doug Johnson, bassist Evan Gregor and drummer Jordan Perlson.

Kelly was recently named 2011’s “Best Jazz Artist” by the Boston Phoenix and was recently nominated for a 2011 Boston Music Award in the category of “Jazz Artist of the Year.”

Kelly released a new CD earlier this year, featuring and in tribute to saxophonist Phil Woods, titled Man With the Hat.

The Russell Malone Trio is double billed with Grace Kelly at Yoshi's on Nov 1st. The Russell Malone Trio then goes to Houston for a Nov 5th show, and then back in Texas on Nov 13-16. I would presume that they are once again in concert together on Nov 9 in Altadena, CA, since you mention the TBA w/ guitarist. I will be at Grace Kelly's shows on Nov 2nd and 3rd, in Seattle for the Earshot Jazz Festival. I was hoping that Russell Malone would come here to Seattle also, but I do not think so.

Russell Malone is not on the Altadena gig.
