Los Angeles-born, New York City-based guitarist Brent Canter dials in warm distortion tones for an edgy stance on his hard-swinging debut. A modernist take on the organ trio (with Adam Klipple and Pat Bianchi alternating on the B3 bench and Jordan Perlson on drums), it includes vibrant originals like “Meet Me Halfway,” the drum-’n’-bass entry “With Eyes Closed” and the fusiony title track. Tenor saxophonist Seamus Blake guests on two dynamic numbers, “Dialogue” and “A Long Way From Home,” both featuring outstanding contributions from Klipple. With Bianchi the trio hits a relaxed, soulful stride on the aptly titled “Settle Down.”
