NPR to Broadcast, Webcast Newport Jazz Festival

Live sets to be carried by six stations and stream online

NPR will broadcast and webcast sets from the Newport Jazz Festival live this weekend, Aug. 6-7, from 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. EST. NPR is partnering with six radio stations, including WBGO Newark, WGBH Boston and WICN New England.

Although a schedule is not yet available at this time, the festival’s three stages will host such artists as Avishai Cohen’s Triveni with Anat Cohen, Esperanza Spalding, Mostly Other People Do the Killing, Randy Weston’s African Rhythms Trio, Wynton Marsalis, Angélique Kidjo, Eddie Palmieri, Hiromi and Joshua Redman.
