Adam Pieronczyk
Komeda: The Innocent Sorcerer
Jazzwerkstatt

This tribute to Polish jazz pianist, film music composer and bandleader Krzysztof Komeda is lovingly crafted by saxophonist, composer and bandleader Adam Pieronczyk. He is joined by nylon-string guitarist Nelson Veras, bassist Anthony Cox, drummer Lukasz Zyta and tenor sax titan Gary Thomas in these re-imaginings of Komeda’s atmospheric works like “Wicker Basket,” the tumultuous “Kattorna” and the moody “Sleep Safe and Warm” (from Roman Polanski’s Rosemary’s Baby). “Roman II,” one of Komeda’s earliest works, written in 1958, is a rhythmically charged Latin-jazz number that features some fiery trading between the two tenors of Pieronczyk and Thomas and guitarist Veras.
