WBGO Kicks Off Jazz Concert Series for Kids

Series for children to feature performances by “Chembo” Corniel, Geri Allen, Carolyn Leonhart with Helen Sung and Mimi Jones

WBGO FM, the jazz radio station of the metropolitan New York area, kicks off its concert series for kids with a performance by percussionist “Chembo” Corniel on Saturday, October 9 at 12:30 p.m. at Newark Symphony Hall, 120 Broad Street in Newark, NJ. Corniel’s show is called Having Fun with Latin Jazz and will illustrate different rhythmic styles, such as bolero, cha cha cha, mambo & meringue. Corniel will demonstrate how these rhythms are integrated into jazz.
