Chick Corea to Appear on Late Night TV

Who says there’s no jazz on TV? What about the Weather Channel? Now jazz musicians - that’s another story. But on Tuesday, October 6, jazz fans will get a chance to see a real jazz musician on real live network television. Chick Corea makes an appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, whose house band is the hip-hop supergroup The Roots. Corea will be sitting in with the band for the entire show. Corea, like his friend and occasional collaborator Herbie Hancock, has been known for cross-genre projects. Some JT readers may remember his appearance at the Grammy awards show a few years back. Corea is currently touring with his acoustic trio—Corea, Clarke & White—and is also doing some solo piano dates, including a performance that same night at the 92n Street Y in New York City.
