Dan Roberts
Can’t Not

Subversive tones, tricky heads and slamming grooves from a smart, post-MMW styled experimental jam band. Keyboardist-composer Dan Roberts tweaks his Rhodes with grungy effects on quirky/catchy originals like “One of Our Pastimes,” “Pets Without Parents” and “Can’t Not.” The most intriguing compositions are the harmonically involved “Guillermo” and the prog-rockish “Marianne Pritchard.” Roberts is joined on the frontline by saxophonist Matt Rippetoe and ably supported by guitarist John Lee and powerhouse drummer Larry Ferguson.
