Percussionist Bujo Kevin Jones underscores this vibrant sextet with an authentic Afro-Cuban pulse on extended jams like “Bodhisattva Wonderful Sound” and the mesmerizing “Tenth World Order,” featuring some bold high-note work by trumpeter Kevin Louis. Pianist-composer Kelvin Sholar contributes the churning salsa number “Tu Boca” along with the old-school funk number “New Nation,” featuring a strong tenor sax solo from Brian Horton. They also turn in an interpretation of Mongo Santamaria’s Latin-jazz classic “Afro Blue.”
