Harlem’s Victoria Theater to be Renovated, Will House Jazz Museum
For years, the future of Harlem’s Victoria Theater hung in the balance. But now, thanks a to a decision from state officials, a developer will renovate the theater into a cultural center, complete with two live theaters and a space for the National Jazz Museum in Harlem. A hotel and dozens of apartments will also occupy the building.
After a three-year decision-making process, Danforth Development Partners was chosen by politicians and community members to break ground on Victoria Theater. Aside from the National Jazz Museum in Harlem, the two theaters included in the space will be the 199-seat Classical Theater of Harlem and the 99-seat theater for the Harlem Arts.
