Keyboardist George Duke Signs with Heads Up International
Renowned keyboardist and composer George Duke has signed an exclusive recording agreement with Heads Up International, one of the world’s premier crossover jazz labels. Duke, who has made his mark in the jazz, fusion and funk genres for decades, will release his first album on Heads Up in Sept. 2008.
Duke, who has fused the jazz and pop spheres since the 1960s, has been a producer since the 1980s but will return to recording with the Heads Up contract. His debut on the label will be a return to 1970s funk, and guest artists will include Bootsy Collins, Jill Scott, Howard Hewett and Teena Marie. More guests will be announced closer to the album’s release date next year.
