Litchfield Jazz Fest Starts Aug. 4
On Aug. 4-6, Goshen, Connecticut’s Litchfield Jazz Festival returns for its 11th year. This is no ordinary jazz festival. For three days, audiences will enjoy stunning jazz performances, crafts and everything a hungry jazz fan could want from Thai food to chili.
Hartford Magazine calls the festival, “Top-ranked … not one of [those] fests packed with pop fizzle and no jazz sizzle.”
Litchfield starts off with a bang on Friday with multiple Grammy award-winner Dionne Warwick. That night, Cyrus Chestnut (pictured) and his trio will perform their lively, hard-swinging jazz.
Saturday is an all-day jazz extravaganza that includes musical greats such as the Trio Da Paz with their unique adaptation of Brazilian jazz. Carol Sloane will take a trip down jazz memory lane with a Duke Ellington tribute, and an influential leader in modern jazz, Lee Konitz, will wow audiences with his effortless alto sax playing.
Sunday will be another jazz marathon with the Eddie Marshall Ensemble, leader of the San Francisco jazz scene, and the world famous James Moody Quartet. From start to finish, this festival is jam-packed (no pun intended) with A-list jazz musicians.
