Verve Is Vocal
Vocal jazz lives over at Verve. The label recently announced the addition of Atlanta-based vocalist Lizz Wright to the label’s roster, as well as the release of Diana Krall’s newest album, The Look of Love, due out Sept. 18, the follow-up to her hugely successful When I Look in Your Eyes.
Krall (pictured left) has been a steady fixture in the jazz community and a loyal Verve artist since the mid-1990s, whereas Wright, in her early 20s, has just begun to turn heads with her gospel-infused singing. Wright’s quartet, In the Spirit, is a powerhouse in the Atlanta jazz scene. Wright will record her debut album later this year with the full endorsement of Verve president Ron Goldstein, who calls Wright the “full package” and able to “make every song a part of her life whether interpreting standards or performing her own compositions.”
