Michael Higgins
The Moon and the Lady Dancing
michaelhigginsmusic.com

Guitarist Michael Higgins strikes a delicate ECM-ish accord with bassist Jay Anderson and drummer Adam Nussbaum on this tasty trio outing. From the opening “Kristin’s Song” to their closing rendition of Jerome Kern’s “In Love in Vain,” they establish an appealing, interactive chemistry together. And while Higgins reveals the influence of Pat Metheny, he finds his voice on the affecting ballad “If I Only Knew,” the angular “Zoot’s Blues” and the raucously swinging “In the Outdoors.”
