Chip Shelton & Peacetime
Imbued With Memories
Summit

Flutist-saxophonist Chip Shelton’s flexible group turns in a faithful rendition of Joe Henderson’s Latin-flavored “Recordame,” an inventive reggae take on Ellington’s “It Don’t Mean a Thing” and an interpretation of Lenny White’s Return to Forever fusion gem “The Shadow of Lo.” Shelton’s originals include the evocative “Imbued With Memories,” which is underscored by the bassline to John Coltrane’s “A Love Supreme,” and the buoyant shuffle-swing number “Cliff Notes,” which he plays on an antique C-tenor sax.
