Guitarist Scott DuBois’ fascinating second CD features the same band that appeared on his 2004 debut. As DuBois spins through tight orbits, unravels knots and creates brooding atmospheres on electric and acoustic guitars, saxophonists David Liebman, Loren Stillman and Jason Rigby crosshatch his abstracted grooves with dense, oblique lines. Some of the tunes, such as “Wander” and “Inevitable,” seem to draw from Eastern or even Native American ideas, as they coalesce from low, processional rhythms to complex harmonics and concentrated intensity.
