A Thousand Eyes
Smooth fusion rubs elbows with Latin percussion on the third collaboration between saxophonist BarenBregge and drummer Russo, a collection of upbeat, glossy grooves and warm, mellow ballads. But the primary composers here are other members of the band: Bassist Tom Williams contributed five tracks, guitarist Phil McCusker turned in three more. Most of the songs glide with an easy-rolling, percussion-based vibe, embellished with some jovial solos. Fans of smooth or light contemporary jazz may find plenty to enjoy, but this group takes few chances.
