Wynton Marsalis, Chucho Valdés, Pedrito Martinez to Open JALC Season
Sept. 18-20 shows launch a season-long “journey through the Americas”
Jazz at Lincoln Center’s 2014-15 season will open on September 18-20 at 8 p.m. with the debut of a collaborative new work by Wynton Marsalis (JALC’s Managing and Artistic Director), pianist-composer-arranger Chucho Valdés, percussionist Pedrito Martinez and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. The concert will take place in Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall, Broadway at 60th Street, New York, New York.
JALC’s 2014–15 Concert and Education Season features what’s described in a press release as a season-long journey “through the Americas.” The 27th season “will explore how jazz has both integrated and influenced the rich musical traditions of the Caribbean and North, South, and Central America,” it says. This season, Jazz at Lincoln Center also celebrates the 10th anniversary of Frederick P. Rose Hall, “The House of Swing”, which opened its doors on October 18, 2004.
Single tickets for Chucho Valdés, Pedrito Martinez and Wynton Marsalis, and all 2014-15 season concerts, are now available. Tickets can be purchased through jalc.org 24 hours a day or from CenterCharge at 212-721-6500, open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
