Tommy Emmanuel
Only
Favored Nations Acoustic

Australia's Tommy Emmanuel, while he doesn't play jazz per se, is an acoustic steel-string guitarist whose particular gifts for mood and melody will have most open-minded music lovers nodding in approval. Only, his first recording for Favored Nations Acoustic, features 14 solo guitar performances with a wide variety of stylistic influences, moods, and atmospheres-from the countrified musings of "Timberlake Road" and "Luttrell" to the moving melodicism of "I've Always Thought of You" to the rippling virtuosic playing on "Train To Dusseldorf" to the faux jazz of "Ol' Brother Hubbard." Regardless of a tune's overall vibe, Emmanuel always works in at least one priceless moment that is likely to stick in your mind and maybe keep you occupied until his next release.
