Celebration of Fred Ho Coming to Brooklyn Aug. 10
ShapeShifter event marks first anniversary of composer/musician’s death
“To Sing You Down,” a celebration of Fred Ho on his first anniversary of his death, featuring the Eco-Music Big Band, will take place at ShapeShifter Lab Aug. 10 at 7 p.m. The venue is located at 18 Whitwell Place Brooklyn, NY. Admission is $20.
Ho, a composer, writer, producer, political activist, and baritone saxophonist, passed away April 12. The tribute program will honor Ho's legacy, including his last big band work, The Grace of the Guerilla, My Love, the music of Cal Massey, and new works by 21st century big band composers Zack O'Farrill, Livio Almeida, Albert Marques and Marie Incontrera.
The Eco-Music Big Band is a 16-piece, multi-generational big band.
This event is presented by Scientifc Soul Sessions, which describes itself as “a collective of revolutionary artists, musicians, organizers, educators and scientists that was founded and developed by Fred Ho. The organization was created for the equal integration of arts and politics into dynamic, inspiring, and soul-changing experiences.
