Photos: The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra Plays the Music of Blue Note Records

Paul Wood shares photos from jazz performance by Wynton Marsalis and the LCJO at the Barbican Centre in London on July 2, 2014

At a sold-out Barbican Centre in London, the 15-piece Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra led by music director Wynton Marsalis celebrated the rich history of Blue Note Records. The program included compositions by Joe Henderson, Wayne Shorter, Jackie McLean and Horace Silver. The Orchestra was augmented by two young local musicians—Nathaniel Facey (alto) and Lewis Wright (vibes). They did not seem out of place. Wynton also admired their sartorial elegance. Every member of the orchestra soloed confidently and the light swinging drums of Ali Jackson held everything together.
