Library of Congress Inducts 25 Works into Its Registry

Louis Jordan, Art Blakey, Celia Cruz recordings recognized

The Library of Congress has inducted 25 recorded works into its National Recording Registry, recognition, according to Librarian of Congress James H. Billington, that these specific recordings “represent an important part of America’s culture and history.”

In addition to music recordings covering several diverse genres stretching back more than a century, the list also includes spoken recordings. (It should be noted that the list also includes recordings that were not made by American artists, such as the Irish rock band U2’s The Joshua Tree album.
