Four more living legends honored in New York

The annual NEA Jazz Masters Awards Ceremony and Concert, which took place Jan. 13 at the Allen Room at Jazz at Lincoln Center and was cohosted by Wynton Marsalis and journalist Soledad O’Brien, honored educator and saxophonist Jamey Aebersold, 74; composer and multi-instrumentalist Anthony Braxton, 68; bassist Richard Davis, 83; and pianist Keith Jarrett, 68. The award, the nation’s most prestigious in jazz, includes a $25,000 grant. At the ceremony, each recipient was given a tribute performance; among the musicians onstage were Joe Lovano, Kenny Barron, Bill Frisell and Warren Wolf.
