The young Tuur (born in 1959) follows up the 1996 ECM release, Crystallisatio, with Flux (ECM New Series 1673; 63:36), a painterly and energetic display of his broad musical palette. Now folk-oriented, now veering into a personalized post-Bartok, post-Schnittke direction, the music is as expressionistic as Arvo Part's is hauntingly vaporous.
