Barbara Morrison exhibits freedom in uptempo phrasing on the first half of this 12-tune album, but at first seems to lack Etta Jones' earnestness and control. Yet, at midpoint she satisfyingly finishes off the fare with some compelling ballads and light swingers that show influences of Etta Jones. Solos from saxophonists Ralph Moore, Ricky Woodard (notable on Percy Mayfield's "A River's Invitation") and trumpeter Snooky Young heighten appeal for the listener.
