Dizzy’s Announces Wynton Marsalis Septet Holiday Week Residency

Run includes two sets on New Year’s Eve

Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola at Jazz at Lincoln Center has announced a residency by the Wynton Marsalis Septet from December 26-31, including two special performances on New Year’s Eve.

The Wynton Marsalis Septet includes Marsalis, trumpet; Wessell Anderson, alto saxophone; Wycliffe Gordon, trombone; Victor Goines, clarinet; Eric Reed, piano; Reginald Veal, bass; and Herlin Riley, drums.

The engagement marks the Septet's debut at Dizzy's.

The cover charge on Thursday-Monday is $125.

On New year’s Eve (Tuesday, 12/31) the cover charge for the early set is $375 per person (includes music charge and prix fixe meal, and party favors); doors open at 6 p.m., music begins at 7:30 p.m. and ends at 9:30 p.m.

For the Tuesday late set, the cover charge is $550 per person (includes music charge, prix fixe meal, champagne toast, and party favors); doors open at 10 p.m. and music begins at 11 p.m.

    I get the NYE prices, hey: it's New Year's in Manhattan, and that's a license to print money. But the $125 cover the other nights is inexcusable. That's five times the cover charge at the Vanguard. Way to bring the music to the masses.
