Tenor saxophonist Harry Allen taps into the Latin motherlode for his latest release. Backed by Larry Goldings, piano; Dori Caymmi, acoustic guitar, vocal; Joe Cohn, electric guitar; Dennis Irwin, bass; Dudua Da Fonseca, drum; and vocalist Maucha Adner, the album offers one Allen original, "Time Is Standing Still," and finds the group interpreting nine Antonio Jobim pieces. Other tunes include Johann Bach's "Air" and Oscar Hammerstein's "I Won't Dance." There's plenty here to get excited about.
