Alone Together
I Hear What You're Trying to Play
Singer Heidi Martin is an appealing young vocalist whose sassy "derangements" of standards like "Alone Together" and "Darn That Dream" connect both body and soul. Aided by the measured backdrops of pianist George Coligan, bassist Richie Goods and drummers Alvester Garnett and Aaron Walker, Martin delivers an attractively upbeat set. Of special note is the spiky dialogue between Martin and vocal free spirit Miles Griffith in the romping medley of "Ain't Misbehavin'" and "Don't Get Around Much Anymore".
