Michele Rosewoman’s New Yor-Uba to Perform at Dizzy’s Next Week
Concerts promote pianist’s new album celebrating Cuban music
Pianist/composer/vocalist Michele Rosewoman will perform for two nights, Sept. 30-Oct. 1, at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola at New York’s Jazz at Lincoln Center. The performances are in celebration of her new double-CD release, New Yor-Uba: 30 Years—A Musical Celebration of Cuba in America. The debut album released on her own Advance Dance Disques label, the album is described in a press release as “the realization of a distinctive creative vision 30 years in the making” It was recorded with the help of a successful Kickstarter campaign and the support of her backers and co-producers Neyda Martinez and Onel Mulet of Habana Harlem, the release said.
