JazzMN Orchestra to Feature Kenny Drew Jr., Miguel Zenón, Others
Minnesota shows run from October through April
JazzMN Orchestra’s season will open October 5 and continue through April 26, 2014. The orchestra has a range of guest musicians on tap, and all performances will be held at the Auditorium of Hopkins High School, located at 2400 Lindbergh Drive in Minnetonka, Minn.
The first show of the season will be on Oct. 5 at 7:30 p.m. JazzMN will team up with guest pianist Kenny Drew Jr. JazzMN’s following performance will take place on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. Accompanied by Twin Cities percussionist Rey Rivera, the orchestra will pay tribute to the late Tito Puente. Next, in the spring, JazzMN will play with the New York Voices on March 16 at 3:00 p.m. Finally, saxophonist Miguel Zenón will join JazzMN Orchestra for its sign-off show on April 26 at 7:30 p.m.
Ticket prices for the Oct. 5, Nov. 9t and April 26 shows, if purchased in advance, will range from $28 (balcony seating) to $30 (main-floor seating), with students paying $18. Tickets bought at the door on the day of the show will run $30 (balcony seating) and $34 (main-floor seating), with student rush tickets available at $10. Tickets for the March 16 performance will cost $20 for students, $32 for balcony seating, and $34 for main-floor seating, if purchased in advanced. Same-day tickets purchased at the door will run from $34-38 with the possibility for student rush at $15.
