Connick, Peyroux, Kidjo, Kaas to Perform at Edith Piaf Tribute
Francofolies New York Set for Sept. 19-20
Harry Connick Jr., Madeleine Peyroux, Angelique Kidjo and many others will participate in Francofolies New York, a two-part concert at New York’s Beacon Theatre (Sept. 19) and Town Hall (Sept. 20) that will pay tribute to singer Edith Piaf on the 50th anniversary of her death. Francofolies, described in a press release as “the first American iteration of France’s foremost music festival,” will also include a show by popular French singer Patricia Kaas (at the Town Hall concert).
The Sept. 19 show will feature an orchestra of French and American players backing Connick, Peyroux, Kaas, Kidjo, as well as Duffy, Alex Hepburn, Beth Ditto, Olivia Ruiz, Charles Dumont, Camélia Jordana, Jean-Louis Aubert, Zaz, Coeur de Pirate, Nolwenn Leroy, Emmanuel Moire and Elodie Frege. Charles Aznavour, while not performing, will be present as guest of honor. French comic actor François-Xavier Demaison has been confirmed to host. The concert will be filmed for a primetime special on France 2, the major national French TV network.
